Paul Revere Primary School
Paul Revere Primary School is known throughout the local Blue Island community for its welcoming environment, talented teachers and staff, and multi-cultural student body of 480 students. Revere Primary prides itself on providing a rigorous and engaging student-centered curriculum and positive school climate. All students at Revere Primary are encouraged to accept the challenge of acquiring a solid educational foundation that will ensure future success in their 21st century global economy.
Our children, staff, and community put reading first! Our instructional philosophy promotes and develops each child’s literacy skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students receive small group and individual instruction in guided reading and literacy work stations.
Teachers meet frequently to discuss and implement researched based strategies. In addition, the Literacy Team (Reading Coach and Reading Recovery/ Primary Literacy teachers) joins with the classroom teachers to share best practices, analyze student data, and provide interventions to the children that need additional support.
Our unique dual language program in grades K-3 is open to both monolingual Spanish and monolingual English children. Half-day instruction is provided in each language to promote each child's ability to be multilingual.
We believe in using technology as a tool for creating and accelerating student learning. Each classroom is equipped with a projector, a document camera, a laptop, and 1 netbook or desktop computer for every 7 students. Students have access to tablets and a computer lab that also contains a SMART board. Each week, all students receive 45 minutes of age appropriate hand-on technology instruction that aligns with the standards.
Social Emotional Learning
Social emotional development in our 5 to 9 year olds is essential. Our students are routinely taught to be respectful, responsible, and safe throughout the school and in the real world. When students can manage their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions, then they will be better prepared for their academic and life success.
